Ingredients

  • 250g beef mince (about 10% fat)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3-4 carrots, diced
  • 1 ½ tbsp Tomato Purée
  • 3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce or sauce
  • 60ml water
  • 1 x stock cube

Topping

  • 3 - 4 potatoes, cubed
  • 60ml milk
  • 20g butter
  • Some cheese, grated

Instructions

Use a large saucepan with a lid

Preheat the oven to 200°C, gas mark 6. 

Fry the onion and carrots in a large, non-stick saucepan for 5 minutes until browned. 


Boil the potatoes in boiling water for 15-20 minutes until tender. 


Add to the mince; tomato purée, Worcestershire sauce / water and stock, cover and simmer for 20 minutes. 

Add salt and pepper as needed.

Drain and mash the potatoes with the milk and butter.  Season to taste.

Transfer the mince to an ovenproof serving dish and top with the mashed potato. 

Sprinkle cheese on top

Bake for 20-25 minutes.
